About Sayak Studio

The story behind Sayak.

Rooted in Javanese heritage and brought to life in Bali.

sayak

Javanese, noun. A skirt or garment.

Our story

Rooted in Javanese heritage and brought to life in Bali, Sayak Studio takes its name from the Javanese word sayak, referring to a skirt or garment.

The studio was founded by Yayuk Rokhayati, known as Yukee. A Javanese maker who built her business in Bali, Yukee brings together an appreciation for craftsmanship with a contemporary, hands-on approach to garment production.

Making clothing since 2018, she has spent years developing her expertise in garment manufacturing, working alongside a small team of skilled local artisans to help fashion labels bring their designs to life, from sourcing fabrics and perfecting samples to producing finished garments.

For us, making clothes is personal. It’s about the people, the process and the care that goes into every piece.

Yukee oversees the studio’s day-to-day operations and stays closely involved in the manufacturing process.

For the labels we work with, that means a direct line to someone who knows the garments, the materials and the team making them. Questions are answered by the person overseeing your production, and decisions are made with the full picture in view.

It’s a personal way of working, and it sits at the heart of everything the studio does.

How we make

Small team. Skilled hands. Considered choices.

Ethical manufacturing is an important part of who we are. We work as a small team of skilled local artisans, with an emphasis on quality craftsmanship, personal client relationships and thoughtful production.

We support more considered production through thoughtful material sourcing, quality craftsmanship and a collaborative manufacturing process. If you’d like to explore more sustainable fabrics, we’ll help source options that suit your garment, availability and budget.
